The newsserver is provided as a courtesy to Usenet, and because I do not like commercial SOBs charging for what should have been free. Please read important info below:

• Newsreaders bandwidth is capped at 256 Kbit. Number of concurrent connections is not limited - it's the bandwidth I care about. If your access is slow, live with it.
• The server does carry some (not all) binaries newsgroups. However, due to very high volume you can only expect about few days retention. Also I will NOT ensure that posts to binaries are propagated, or binaries groups are complete! Don't ask - I simply do not have (hardware) resources to properly support binaries!
  Note that this server treats as 'binary' any article containing encoded binary regardless of group!
• Article storage is allocated as follows:

  - binaries ~20GB (1-2 days, actual storage depends on freespace)
  - everything else 25GB (25-30 days)

• All articles pass through cleanfeed filter. Spammers will burn in hell! If your post does not show up anywhere, it probably means you've tried to spam
• All posts will show sender's identification in X-Trace header
• Please subscribe to greatnowhere.support newsgroup!

Jul 24, 2006: backend spool server had to be rebuilt. There will be only a couple of days of articles available until spool fills!

Aug 3, 2006: configuration change - message IDs are now always generated by server, you wont be able to use your own message ID. Sorry. This was implemented to prevent server abuse.
